How Much Can I Spend On My Next New Car?
How Much Can You Really Afford to Spend on a New Car?
by Buddy Evans Vice President of Big Bucks Autotrade;
Are you in the market for a new car? If so its important to figure out what you can afford to spend before going shopping. By doing some simple math and evaluating your current situation youll be prepared to shop for a car you want ndash; and can afford!
How Much Can You Spend on Monthly Car Payments
The first thing to figure out is how much you can afford to spend on monthly car payments. Most experts argue that you should not spend more than 20 of your monthly gross income on a car payment. In special situations this figure may vary but as a rule for the average adult sticking to 20 or less of monthly gross will likely be a wise move.
Short Term vs. Long Term Car Loan
Once you determine a safe figure for monthly car payments you should consider the loan term. Remember that a longer car loan will mean much more interest paid over time while a shorter car loan term will mean less interest but higher monthly payments.
Coming Up with a Down Payment
And what about your current car assuming you have or had one?
Selling Your Current Car
If you already sold your car you may have some available cash to contribute as a down payment. Any down payment you make is great as it will cut down on monthly car payments. If you still need to get rid of your current car be sure to consider selling your car before simply trading it in to the dealer. You can usually expect much more money from selling your car than trading it in. If time is an issue look for a reputable used car buyers like Big Bucks Autotrade; in New York TriState Area.
If you already sold your car and have some leftover cash from the sale consider keeping it for a down payment on your next new car. Any down payment you make will cut down monthly payments significantly.
Leased Car
If youre currently leasing a car youll need to either wait until your lease term expires ndash; or get out of your lease early. To learn more about getting out of a lease read Getting out Of Your Used Car Lease;.
And if you have savings or other available cash this may be used as a down payment as well if you choose to do so.
Car Insurance Costs
Insurance costs are another major consideration when figuring out how much you can spend on your new car. A sports car or a high theft car will likely have a far higher insurance premium than a runofthemill sedan. To put this into perspective remember that two new cars with sticker prices of 20000.00 each may have insurance premiums which vary by as much as 50 or more! In other words its very important to figure out ndash; roughly ndash; how much insurance is going to cost for all of the new cars your interested in.
Car Maintenance Costs
Then there are maintenance costs to consider. Some new cars will be far more expensive to repair than others. Foreign cars for example may be quite expensive to repair. However many of these cars now come with warranties and free scheduled maintenance. New offers like this may actually make cars which used to be expensive to fix far less expensive than other cheap to fix cars! Therefore the maintenance issue should be evaluated on a carbycar and offerbyoffer basis as manufacturers and their offers vary significantly.
After considering these simple factors youll be prepared to go out and shop for a car that truly fits the bill financially speaking.

How Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars Can Give You The Gas Mileage Improvements You Have Been Looking For
Gas prices may have dropped by a couple of cents over the last few days but with the current trends you can bet that it wont be long before they go up yet again. The days of cheap oil and gasoline are sadly a thing of the past. So if you have any sense you should still be looking for ways to make gas mileage improvements on your vehicles by any means that you can. Along with the latest and most promising ways to improve gas mileage and get more mpg are the hydrogen fuel cell cars.
Hydrogen fuel cell cars are just standard cars that have been converted to use water as a supplement to ordinary gasoline. This is achieved with the use of a DIY hydrogen fuel cell or homemade hydrogen generator a small device that provides HHO gas. This HHO gas is then mixed with the ordinary gasoline air mixture in your cars engine. As this mixture of gases burns with a lot more efficiency and power it gives you fantastic gas mileage improvements. Notice that I said supplement as there are some claims out there that suggest you can run your cars on water alone which is ridiculous
One of the best things about hydrogen fuel cell cars apart from the great gas mileage improvements you get is that you can convert your existing vehicle easily and cheaply. You do not need to take it to a garage or have a mechanic working on it for days on end. With just a few inexpensive parts that you can buy at any hardware store and a simple to follow guide to show you how to build a hydrogen fuel cell you can convert your cars in a matter of hours.
Once you have converted your cars into hydrogen fuel cell cars you can expect to get gas mileage improvements of between 35 and 50. You will also notice that you have a smoother ride and a lot more power this is due to the cleaner burn that you get and you will also expect to get less wear on your engine and a lot less harmful exhaust emissions being pumped into the atmosphere.
Another plus with the DIY hydrogen fuel cell is that it is completely reversible so if you ever wanted to take it out again you can do so without causing any damage to your engine. But with the great gas mileage improvements that you will get the only reason I can see you wanting to remove it for are if you sell your car and want to keep your homemade hydrogen generator to use in your next vehicle.
To learn more about hydrogen fuel cell cars or to find a first class guide to show you how to build a hydrogen fuel cell you should be able to find more than enough information on the internet. With everyone trying to find ways to make gas mileage improvements to their vehicles the DIY hydrogen fuel cell has really caught on and there are dozens of good guides to show you exactly how to go about it.

How Hybrid Cars Can Help Alleviate The Energy Crisis
We are always being told that as a nation we are not doing enough to alleviate the coming Energy Crisis. Not enough people are yet driving Hybrid Cars to have a big impact but perhaps that is about to change. The following review addresses how hybrid cars may affect some issues related to the energy crisis.
The United States really has not got its act together in this area.
As the greatest consumer of fossil fuels in the world we have the greatest potential to act. A large portion of the population however seem to believe that any energy problems can be solved if only we were prepared to fully exploit existing oil reserves in such places as Alaska or the recently discovered oil deposits in the Gulf of Mexico. Hybrid cars have the potential to protect us from having to use other sources of energy to keep the economy going. Increased use of Hybrid cars won’t in itself cause Americans to consume increased amounts of fossil fuel. In fact Hybrid Cars use much less gasolinetype fossil fuels than conventional cars do.
The American population currently seems unmoved by continuing gas price increases.
Not long ago people reacted badly to a year on year price comparison that showed significant increase. Now people let it pass with hardly a murmur. At the same time car manufacturers particularly in the gas guzzling fields of trucks and sports utility vehicles are making autos bigger and bigger. A fashion icon it may be but try getting the average SUV owner to downsize from his beloved sports charger! In the long run Hybrid cars cost less than the equivalent conventionally driven vehicle. Thus there is hope that John Doe has a glimmer of light in his struggle to survive the continuing problems of over reliance on an literally and metaphorically oildriven economy.
It could well be argued that the period of cheap oil is already over.
In the near future we could all be swamped by the combined backlash of an energy crisis reinforced with a coincidental ‘peak oil crisis’. The affect of a ‘peak oil crisis’ will be worldwide shortages of both natural gas and oil products. Industrial countries together with large and small developing countries will be pitched against each other for access to the diminishing stocks that remain. A growing market for Hybrid Cars would be a major weapon against this scenario coming to fruition. The ‘peak oil crisis’ would not only be postponed but such a growth in hybrid car purchase could reduce the pressure for more oil exploration activity. Each day advances are being made in the technology of Hybrid Cars and thus each day the proposition becomes more attractive to the man on the street.
It is perfectly feasible that the recent introduction of the plugin concept for hybrid cars could result in such vehicles eventually using no gasoline at all.
As the Energy Crisis continues to build the American people need to galvanise their efforts and address the increasing conflict over oil and its impact on the Country’s living standards. Hybrids Cars provide a way to reduce the impact of the energy crisis and if in the future other countries or international organizations fail to agree on acceptable solutions the US will at least have the comfort of knowing it has done its part by furthering its investment in Hybrid Cars.
Finally then a significant increase in the use of Hybrid cars in the United States would contribute to a noticeable reduction in its dependence on oil and therefore help alleviate the affect of the coming energy crisis. It should be noted however that the US has yet to show much economic benefit from the trend towards Hybrid Cars. Most popular Hybrid Cars on the American market come from Japanese manufacturers. This imbalance therefore needs to be addressed in order not to substitute an energy imbalance with an economic one.
