Charger Performance

It’s about time the charger comes back and it comes with a Hemi. The 6.1 L Hemi engine that Chrysler chose to put in the Charger is the most powerful Hemi they have ever put in a muscle car. The SRT8 Charger comes with this monster of an engine that puts out 425 hp. If you can get your hands on one these Hemi’s it is speculated that they will become collector’s just like the 65′ to 71′ Hemi powered vehicles. I wouldn’t go buy one just because of that but if you are a charger fan it might just be a good idea. Who knows how long they will be here this time around.

If the stock power of 425 hp doesn’t suffice there are plenty of upgrades that will give you an extra kick. There are multiple after market products that will take little time to install and won’t break the pocket book. The two quickest ways to improve your performance for your charger are cold air intakes and performance chips or tuners. Both have their advantages. With gas prices climbing as fast as the cliffs of the Swiss Alps why not try to improve your gas mileage. Both cold air intakes and a performance chip can increase fuel efficiency.

A cold air intake for your charger will take you about 30 minutes to install and can improve your gas mileage by as much as 2 mpg and around 1015 hp. Cold air intakes help get denser air into the engine to help get more power out of your fuel. Extracting every last possible molecule of power out of the fuel increases power and fuel economy.

Chips and Tuners for a Charger are the simplest upgrade if you have 10 minutes. Just put down the remote run outside and add some efficiency to your Charger. Really it only takes a few minutes and there really isn’t a way to screw it up. There is a little port or plug just below your steering wheel that you plug the tuner into and then follow the instructions on the screen. The chip will take the factory programming off of your charger’s computer and save it to the tuner. Then it will program your Charger’s computer with the new program. The stock program is saved if you ever want to put it back to stock. you want to set it back to stock if you ever have to go back to the factory for any software updates to your car and then you can go home and put the program back on.
